I. Product parameters
(I) Basic specifications
• Size: can be customized according to customer needs, common sizes are 16-open (210mm×285mm), 32-open (140mm×203mm), large 8-open (285mm×420mm), etc., and the error is controlled within ±1mm.
• Number of pages: generally 32 pages or more (need to be a multiple of 4 for easy binding), up to 500 pages, which can be adjusted according to the customer's content.
• Thickness: depends on the number of pages and paper thickness, usually between 5mm-30mm.
(II) Paper selection
• Inner page paper: commonly used 80g-157g coated paper and matte powder paper, 120g-200g offset paper can also be used. Coated paper and matte paper are suitable for printing colorful pictures, while offset paper is more suitable for content with more text. Customers can choose according to the purpose of the album and budget.
• Cover paper: Generally, 200g-300g coated paper, matte paper, or 250g-400g special paper (such as kraft paper, art paper, etc.) are selected. Some high-end album covers can use lamination or UV technology to enhance texture and durability.
(III) Printing parameters
• Printing method: Multi-color offset printing is used, supporting 4-color (CMYK) printing, which can meet the color requirements of most albums; if there are special color requirements, spot color printing can be added.
• Resolution: The image resolution must reach 300dpi to ensure that the printed image is clear and delicate, and the text resolution is not less than 600dpi to ensure sharp text.
• Color standard: follow ISO 12647-2 international printing color standard, control the color difference within ΔE≤3, and ensure the accuracy and consistency of the color of the printed product.
(IV) Glue nail parameters
• Glue nail method: use wireless glue nail, use environmentally friendly EVA hot melt glue, and the glue layer thickness is uniform, 0.5mm-1mm, to ensure that the pages are firm and not easy to fall off.
• Glue nail position: glue nail on the binding edge of the album (usually on the left side), and the glue nail width is consistent with the width of the binding edge of the album to ensure the stability of the binding.
II. Production process
(I) Preliminary preparation
1. The customer provides the design file, and we review the file to check whether the file format (supports PDF, AI, PSD and other formats), size, resolution, color mode, etc. meet the printing requirements. If there are any problems, communicate with the customer in time to modify.
2. According to customer needs and file content, determine the paper type, specification and usage, and purchase and inspect the paper to ensure that the paper quality meets the standards.
(II) Printing process
1. Debug the printing machine, including setting parameters such as pressure, speed, and ink volume to ensure stable printing results.
2. Carry out trial printing to check the color, clarity, and overprint accuracy of the printed product. After the trial printing is qualified, start batch printing.
3. Arrange special personnel to inspect during the printing process, and take samples every 500 sheets for inspection to promptly discover and solve problems that arise during the printing process, such as inaccurate overprinting and uneven ink color.
(III) Post-printing processing
1. Cutting: The printed paper is cut by a cutting machine to reach the set size. The cutting accuracy is controlled within ±0.5mm to ensure that the edges of the album are neat.
2. Folding: According to the number and size of the album, use a folding machine to fold. The folding must be neat and wrinkle-free to ensure the correct page number sequence.
3. Collation: Collate the folded book in the order of page numbers to ensure that the pages are arranged accurately.
(IV) Binding with glue nails
1. Gluing: stack the prepared book pages neatly, and evenly apply EVA hot melt glue on the binding edge through the glue nail machine. The temperature of the glue is controlled at 160℃-180℃ to ensure that the viscosity of the glue reaches the best state.
2. Lamination: After applying the glue, immediately press the spine to make the pages and glue fully bonded. The pressing time is 3-5 seconds. The pressure is adjusted according to the thickness of the album to ensure that the binding is firm.
3. Cooling: The pressed album is placed on the cooling table to cool and solidify the glue. The cooling time is about 10-15 minutes.
(V) Post-processing and inspection
1. Re-cut the album after glue nailing and trim the edges to make it more neat and beautiful.
2. Quality inspection: Check the size, number of pages, printing quality, glue nail firmness, etc. of the album. Unqualified products will be reworked.
3. Packaging: The qualified albums will be packed according to the customer's requirements. They can be packed in cartons, plastic bags, etc. to ensure that they are not damaged during transportation.
