1、 Basic dimensional parameters
1. Conventional size
Accurately label the length, width, and height values in millimeters (mm). For common types of lid boxes, the dimensions of the outer box are 300mm x 200mm x 50mm in length, width x height, and 295mm x 195mm x 48mm in length, width x height, with appropriate tolerances generally controlled within the range of ± 0.5mm - ± 1mm to ensure the assembly compatibility of the box body.
Special dimensions: If a special shaped box or ultra large or ultra small dimensions are required, a detailed 3D dimension diagram must be provided, specifying the specific dimensions of each edge and corner, and explaining the design requirements for special shapes, such as the curvature, angle, and other parameters of curved, trapezoidal, and other parts.
 
2. Box shaped structure
1) Common box types: including top and bottom box, drawer box, flip box, handheld box, folding box, and other types. Taking a drawer box as an example, it is necessary to clarify the matching relationship between the internal dimensions of the outer box and the external dimensions of the inner drawer. The internal length and width of the outer box should be 1-2mm larger than the external length and width of the inner drawer. The height direction should be designed according to the actual product placement requirements to ensure that the drawer can be smoothly pulled out and pushed in.
2) Customized Box Type: For customized special box types, detailed unfolded drawings or 3D models should be provided, indicating the connection methods, folding line positions, and angles of each part, such as key structural parameters such as lock position and tongue size, to ensure the stability and convenience of the box type during assembly and use.
 
2、 Material parameters
1. Paper material
1) White cardboard: Common paper weights include 250g, 300g, 350g, etc. The higher the weight, the thicker and firmer the paper. 300g white cardboard is commonly used for food packaging boxes, which has good printing adaptability and texture. The whiteness requirement is ≥ 90%, ensuring bright and full printing colors.
 
2) Gray board paper: Depending on the thickness, commonly used specifications include 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, etc. It is generally used for the outer box of sky and earth cover boxes or packaging boxes with high load-bearing requirements. The quantitative range is 600-1200g/㎡, and the surface is required to be flat, without obvious color difference or impurities.
 
3) Copperplate paper: with a weight of 128g, 157g, 200g, etc., it has high glossiness and is suitable for fine color printing, such as cosmetic packaging boxes. 157g copperplate paper is commonly used to make product promotional pages and insert them into packaging boxes. Its smoothness is ≥ 300s, ensuring clear printing images and distinct layers.
 
2. Composite material
1) Paper plastic composite: such as paper and PET film composite, can improve the moisture resistance and wear resistance of packaging boxes. It is necessary to specify the specific material and thickness of the paper and film, such as the composite of 250g white cardboard and 12 μ m PET film. At the same time, the composite process requirements should be explained, such as composite strength ≥ 1.5N/15mm, to ensure that the composite layer is not easily separated.
 
2) Paper aluminum composite: commonly used for packaging boxes that require high moisture and light resistance, such as food and medicine. It is necessary to indicate the thickness of the aluminum foil (usually 7-15 μ m), the material and weight of the paper, as well as the composite method and quality standards. For example, the barrier performance requires an oxygen permeation rate of ≤ 5cm ³/(m ² · 24h · 0.1MPa) and a water vapor permeation rate of ≤ 1g/(m ² · 24h).
 
3、 Printing parameters
1. Printing process
 
1). Offset printing: suitable for large-scale, high-precision color printing, using CMYK four-color printing mode, with a dot resolution of 175-300dpi, ensuring high color reproduction and rich layering of printed patterns. For packaging boxes with special color requirements, Pantone color codes such as Pantone 186 C red must be provided to ensure color consistency.
 
2). Flexographic printing: commonly used for printing corrugated paper packaging boxes, it has the characteristics of low cost and high efficiency. The printing dots are circular, and the resolution is generally between 100-150dpi. It is necessary to clarify the type of ink, such as water-based ink, which meets environmental requirements, while controlling printing pressure and plate hardness to ensure printing quality.
 
3). Screen printing: suitable for local special effect printing, such as UV varnish, sanding, hot stamping and other processes on packaging boxes. The thickness of UV varnish printing is generally 0.02-0.05mm, requiring a smooth surface, no sagging, and no bubbles; The sanding effect needs to control the thickness of the sanding particles, such as 80-120 mesh, to achieve ideal tactile and visual effects.
 
2. Color requirements
Provide electronic files of design drafts in vector formats such as AI, CDR, PDF, etc., with CMYK color mode and file resolution ≥ 300dpi. Clearly define color accuracy requirements, such as color difference Δ E ≤ 2, to ensure that the printed product matches the color of the design draft. For special color effects such as gradient colors and transition colors, it is necessary to provide a detailed explanation of the design intent and effect requirements.
 
4、 Surface treatment process parameters
1. Laminated film
Bright film: The commonly used thickness is 1.0 silk (0.01mm), with high transparency, which can enhance the glossiness and wear resistance of the packaging box. It is required that the film is coated without bubbles, wrinkles, or peeling, and the surface flatness after coating is ≤ 0.2mm.
Matte film: The thickness is generally 1.2 silk (0.012mm), with a matte surface, a soft touch, and a certain scratch resistance. During the lamination process, temperature and pressure need to be controlled to ensure stable lamination quality.
 
2. Hot stamping
Hot stamping/silver stamping: Using hot press transfer technology, the precise position and size of the hot stamping pattern need to be provided. The hot stamping foil is commonly made of electroplated aluminum with a thickness of 12-18 μ m. The hot stamping temperature is generally controlled at 120-180 ℃, and the pressure is 3-8MPa to ensure clear hot stamping patterns, neat edges, no leakage or sticking of the plate.
Hot stamping colors: In addition to gold and silver, there are also various colors of aluminum foil available for selection, such as red, blue, green, etc. Specific color requirements and Pantone color codes should be specified for reference.
 
3. UV process
Localized UV: UV curing is applied to specific patterns or text areas of the packaging box to create a contrasting effect between high gloss and matte surfaces. The thickness of UV varnish coating is 0.03-0.08mm, and the surface hardness after curing is ≥ 2H. It has good wear resistance and no yellowing or discoloration phenomenon.
Overall UV: UV treatment is applied to the entire surface of the packaging box to enhance its glossiness and waterproof performance. The UV layer is required to be uniform, without flow marks or orange peel, and the glossiness should be ≥ 90 °.
 
5、 Other parameters
1. Load bearing requirements
Clearly define the maximum weight that the packaging box needs to bear, such as 500g for cosmetic packaging boxes and 2kg for food gift boxes, in order to select appropriate materials and structural designs, ensuring that the packaging box can effectively protect the product during transportation and storage.
 
2. Environmental requirements
If there are environmental requirements, specific standards should be specified, such as compliance with the EU REACH regulation, US FDA food contact material standards, etc. Clarify whether the material is recyclable, such as using FSC certified paper, and whether the ink is environmentally friendly water-based ink or soy ink.
 
3. Quantity and packaging
Determine the order quantity, such as 5000 units per batch. At the same time, explain the packaging method of the packaging box, such as putting every 50 pieces into a large cardboard box with dimensions of 600mm x 500mm x 400mm in length, width, and height. The box should be cushioned and protected with pearl cotton or bubble wrap to ensure that the packaging box is not damaged during transportation.
